Head Groom

FULL TIME | YEAR ROUND | $50-58K+ Health Insurance & Bonuses

Personable and professional experienced Head Groom desired for full-time year-round position with no travel required. Ideal candidate is  extremely knowledgeable in horse care and grooming, self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and a team player.

Duties Include:
Opening Duties (6:30 or 7am start)
Feed preparation and distribution
Turnout
Cleaning Stalls with stablehands and groom
Bathing/grooming/clipping
Blanketing/Fly Sheets
Wrapping/Bandaging legs
General First Aid
Administering medications and wormers
Administering IV/IM injections as directed by vet
Administering therapies (Bemer blanker, theraplate, ice boots, Game Ready etc)
Assist Vet/Farrier
Maintaining Tack room and tack
Tacking up English, Western, and Driving
Assisting children/guests with horses
Training, managing and overseeing 2 grooms
Keeping detailed records on horses & their care
Maintaining cleanliness within the barn, hay room, and feed room
Checking paddocks daily before turning out.
Lunging on line and free lunging in round pen
Lunging over jumps
Exercising on Treadmill
Dragging arena and round pen daily
Maintaining jumps and obstacles in the arena
Assisting with foaling & mare care

Mandatory Requirements:

3-5 years Experience grooming to high standard for showing (Hunter/Jumper)
2 years Min. experience as Head Groom with other grooms reporting to them
2 years previous management experience in any occupation

Verifiable job history and references
Able to drive truck and 4-6 horse goose-neck trailer
Legal to work in US
Fluent in written & spoken English
Own reliable transportation
Clean Background and driving record
CPR & First Aid Certification

Preferred additional experience, but NOT required:
Combined Driving Experience
Foaling experience
Experience using various horse therapies
Exercise horses on the flat
School horses up to 3′ jumps
